TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT!
Just a quick reminder that tonight is the first Schola Cantorum rehearsal for the fall semester. Doors will be open at 7:15 for people to check-in and pick-up hard copies of music.
A Few Things to Know…
REGISTRATION
Whether you are taking this as a class or registering as a community member, we need you to fill out this REGISTRATION FORM so we have your current information, not to mention getting your name right in the program. Doing that before you arrive tonight will help streamline the process tremendously.
SHEET MUSIC
If you are using an e-reader device for sheet music, you can find ALL THE SCORES FOR THE ENTIRE SEMESTER HERE! I strongly recommend that your download ForScore for managing your music. The app makes page-turning easy, and there are features for marking your score with loads of other gadgets.
If you are a “hard-copy” person, and you have completed the REGISTRATION FORM, we are holding a full-set of music for you at the door for tonight’s rehearsal.
PLEASE NOTE: At this writing (5:00 pm on Tuesday afternoon), there were 46 requests for hard-copies! Since the hard-copies of the Lavoy are nearly $30 each (we’re only charging you half of that!), we have only printed 60 of them so far, and those will go to the first 60 people who are registered by 7:00 pm this evening. (Or as soon as we run out before then.) After that, we will issue hard-copies on a first come-first serve basis at the door. We have 80+ copies of everything else and will print more copies of the LaVoy by next week as needed, but we didn’t want to pay for copies that are going to be used. (Might be a good time to try out the e-reader thing if you have an iPad at home.)
TONIGHT’S REHEARSAL PLAN
I try to publish a rehearsal plan each week that gives you the order of the rehearsal and the time I have planned to allocate to each piece in the rehearsal. While always subject to change in the heat of the moment, this also tells you the planned duration of the rehearsal, which is typically 7:30 to 9:30 pm. (no break)
Here’s the list for tonight: (Not sure we’ll get to all this, but a boy can dream!)
- 7:30 pm: Warm-ups
- 7:40 pm: Wild Forces (Runestad)
- 7:48 pm: The Dreams that Remain (Lavoy)
- 8:10 pm: Endless (LaVoy)
- 8:45 pm: Your Soul in Song (Runestad)
- 9:00 pm: Midwinter Song (LaBarr)
- 9:08 pm: Ride the Chariot (Smith)
- 9:17 pm: Listen to the Lambs (Dett)
