Part Testing
The time is finally come.
We’re at the point that we are stuck until we are confident that nobody in the choir is making up notes. This is especially true for “that page” in Claviante and pretty much all of Faire is the Heaven.
Part-testing must be submitted on YouTube and is due by 4:00 pm on Monday, October 2nd.
You may choose to submit either by yourself, or with other (or all) singers in your section. Just know that if you submit with other people and it isn’t good, the entire group will be required to resubmit. The only grade is pass/fail – but nobody fails. You just do it again until it’s right.
Part-Testing Excerpts:
Faire is the Heaven: Measure 9 to the downbeat of m. 47 // m. 83 to the downbeat of m. 112
Claviante: Mm. 56 – 60, with diction at tempo! (I bet you know the spot.)
If You Submit alone:
- Set the pitch at the piano and sing your part a cappella
- Have the camera on your device pointed at you while you’re singing
- Upload to YouTube as an “Unlisted” video. (If the setting is “Private” I won’t be able to get to it.)
- Title you video as follows: Last Name_Song Title_Part (e.g. Head_Claviante_B1)
- Copy the URL for your video and paste it into the Google form pictured at the bottom of this page.
- Please submit a separate video for each piece.
If You Submit as a group:
- Set the pitch at the piano and sing your part as a section a cappella
- Have the camera on your device pointed at ALL SINGERS while you’re singing
- Upload to YouTube as an “Unlisted” video. (If the setting is “Private” I won’t be able to get to it.)
- Title you video as follows: Section_Song Title (e.g. Soprano 2_Claviante)
- List all singers participating in the recording in the appropriate place on the Google form
- Once again… it should be evident that all singers are contributing. If the section doesn’t sound unified and accurate, the entire group will be asked to resubmit.
- Copy the URL for your video and paste it into the Google form pictured at the bottom of this page.
- Please submit a separate video for each piece.
- Only one person needs to submit if you recorded as a group, as long as all participants are listed on the Google form.

ASSISTANT MANAGER POSITION FOR UD CHORALE
As Shaun will be heading out to student teach in the spring, I’m seeking a (paid) assistant manager to begin immediately in helping with Chorale admin stuff. (Especially for fall tour.) Can be a Junior, Sophomore, or Freshman who intends to re-audition for Chorale next fall.
