This Week in Schola Cantorum

This is our last hoorah for a very busy semester, and hopefully our crowning achievement.

ABOUT TONIGHT’S REHEARSAL:

The schedule for tonight is particularly tricky as Concert Choir will be joining us for the Hagenberg pieces (Nox and Splendor), Seeking Light, and the Lavoy. We’re doing the Gjeilo, Forrest, and Powell on our own.

SCHEDULE FOR TONIGHT

7:00 pm (ish) – CALL TIME FOR REHEARSAL (Children’s choir will be letting out at this time so it will likely be something of a melee! But we need to run Nox, Splendor, and Seeking Light (you’ll get that score back tonight upon arrival) before the orchestra arrives.

7:25 pm – Short break while the orchestra gets set. (We have 14 professional string players. Yay!)

7:30 pm – COMBINED CHOIRS with orchestra on the Lavoy

8:15 pm – 10 minute break

8:25 pm – SCHOLA ONLY with orchestra on Gjeilo

9:15 pm – Short break while orchestra packs up

9:20 pm – Dreamweaver (Leon conducts)

9:25 pm – To Sit and Dream (Ben conducts)

9:30 pm (ish) – DONE, except for…

9:35 pm – Auditions for solo in Seeking Light.

SCHEDULE FOR FRIDAY

4:30 pm – Bus for concert choir students. (We may need some extra seats in carpools as well. We’ll address that tonight.)

5:30 pm – CALL TIME at Grace Methodist Church, Wilmington.

5:45 – 7:30 pm – Dress rehearsal at Grace Church

7:30 pm – DOORS OPEN

8:00 pm – CURTAIN

ADMISSION IS FREE. THERE ARE NO PRESALE TICKETS FOR THIS CONCERT!! Just show up.

Y’all Come Christmas Sing for next week is cancelled!

As it turns out, that’s the most popular night for extraneous events on the entire UD campus. We’ll have boxes at Grace Church where you can drop your music after the concert is over.

If you haven’t paid your sheet music, registration, or outfit fees, please do so. We’re running a major deficit for this season, especially given the circumstance of no ticket fees from concerts while hiring a pro orchestra. Ouch.

VERY MUCH looking forward to this gig. You will love singing in this space and I believe the orchestra will be absolutely top notch.

See you tonight.

  1. Hello, Paul! Will the “Y’all Come Christmas Sing” be rescheduled for a different day? Or not this year? Sad to miss it, but understand if so!
