SCHOLA: 21 April 2026

A Few Odds and Ends…

NEXT WEEK:

  • Tuesday, April 28th @ 7:00 pm: EARLY CALL TIME for “QUASI DRESS REHEARSAL” in AED 118. Orchestra will be ready to join us at 7:30 pm, but we’ll need that extra time to find room for 150 singers and warm up. Expect rehearsal to go to 10:00 pm that evening. THIS IS THE CLOSEST THING WE GET TO A DRESS REHEARSAL – other than the Friday night during the concert itself.
  • Friday, May 1 @ 6:15 pm in AED 118 for call time, riser formations and warm-up. I’m HOPING we might squeak out a soundcheck with the orchestra in Puglisi Hall, but if that happens, it (the soundcheck) will be short and sweet. (Or at least short.) CURTAIN IS AS 8:00 pm. Running time for the concert is 80 minutes of music with a likely 20-minute intermission.
  • Saturday, May 2 @ 5:30 pm at St. Elizabeth Church in Wilmington. We’ll warm up downstairs then join the orchestra for a full sound-check upstairs before the doors open at 7:30 pm.

THEY FLIPPED THE SWITCH!

AED 118 was freezing cold last night. You will certainly want to bring layers tonight, and maybe even fingerless gloves. I mean… FREEZING!

SLOVENIA

Thanks to all of you who tuned with your cyber-support of our performance on Saturday. I had a pretty good sense going in that it was between us and the Slovenian choir, and alas, they took the big prize. While disappointed in the outcome, our team members were excellent ambassadors the Delaware and the USA. I couldn’t have been more proud of them.

TONIGHT’S REHEARSAL

EVERYTHING… I hope. In concert order. (Mozart then Forrest.) I met the orchestra for the first time today. They sound great. This is going to be a great run.

TRANSPORTATION TO/FROM ST. ELIZABETH CHURCH

We are planning to reserve school buses to and from the church for the Saturday night concert. And we’re hoping some of you can help out with carpools as well.

PLEASE COMPLETE THIS FORM IF YOU NEED BUS TRANSPORTATION OR YOU CAN PROVIDE A CARPOOL

WE NEED A STAGE CREW.

We need a few people with a bit of brawn to help move risers and equipment for our concert at St. Elizabeth’s. There will be three shifts:

  • Friday, May 1, right after the concert, to load risers, etc onto the truck
  • Saturday, May 2, around noon to move said equipment into the church
  • Saturday, May 2, right after the concert to move stuff back to UD and offload at Amy E.

At the moment, I fear I am on all three of these crews, likely driving the truck. (Think Leonard Bernstein ever had to do that?! lol) Between Schola and Chorale, we need at least 8-10 people on each crew.

PLEASE USE THIS FORM IF YOU’RE AVAILABLE TO HELP WITH ANY CREW SHIFT

I think that’s it.

See you soon for a lot of high-energy singing.

  1. I will be driving to St. Elizabeth on Saturday. I will have room for up to 4 additional passengers. I am an Uber driver but this is pro bono. That means no charge. If you want to contribute for gasoline, great. If you can’t, no worries.

With sufficient notice I will pick you up. At the end, I will get you home.

  2. My friends are having great difficulty purchasing tickets. Website still not working and box office has limited hours.
