One Last Hurrah! (Until Spring)

The weather outside is frightful…

BUT YOU BETCHA WE’RE MEETING TONIGHT!

Regular rehearsal from 7:30 to 9… ISH.

In addition to the Magnificat, Illuminare, and Hark the Herald, make sure you also have copies of:

Rutter: Candlelight Carol

Willcocks: O Come All Ye Faithful

We’ll run ALL of those tonight

Have You Bought Tickets Yet?

There’s only one show listed on the SoM website, but there really are two shows, at 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm, and both are listed on the ticketing page for online presale.

BUY TICKETS HERE!

While unsold tickets MAY be available at the door, we may well be sold out by Sunday. (And if past protocol is any indication, presale will shut down sometime on Friday afternoon.)

Today is GIVING TUESDAY, and we NEED you!

Our award-winning Delaware Choral Scholars are already starting preparations to return to Europe in the spring to take on the other four championship finalists in Maribor, Slovenia. This project packs a hefty pricetag of about $60k, a tab I’m working diligently not to pass on to the singers. (While a trip to Europe always sounds exotic, they’ll be on the ground roughly 72 hours and their sightseeing itinerary will consist mainly of rehearsal rooms and backstage corridors.)

Quite remarkably, a significant gift has materialized to guarantee MATCHING FUNDS for EVERY GIFT up to the $30,000! (You read that right – $500 actually = $1000!) And while the campaign launched this morning is for Giving Tuesday, I’ll surely make a plug for this endeavor at Sunday’s concerts.

That said, if you’re inclined to make a gift, doing so today (or even tomorrow) will show up on the Giving Tuesday scoreboard, which is great psychology for encouraging additional giving! 😍

YOU CAN MAKE A CONTRIBUTION HERE!

Bah humbug, you say? “I’m not going to Slovenia to tour any backstage corridors!”

Fair enough.

But at the end of the day, gifts from campaigns like this land in the same bucket that pays for professional musicians for (both) of our concerts this fall, or provides scholarships for eager music majors willing embolden the ranks of the choir in Croatia this summer, or sometimes simply provides us the flexibility to stage a concert in a gorgeous church instead of the ever-enticing Loudis Hall.

Every dollar counts. And this week, every dollar counts twice.

This Weekend…

… is something of a marathon.

I’ll be sending out a post on Friday with detailed call-times and various other details, but for right now, plan to:

  • Be a First Presbyterian Church by 8:30 am on Saturday morning
  • Rehearse until about 11:30 am
  • Come back to First Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm on Sunday afternoon
  • Bring a snack or Liquid IV to charge up with between the concerts.
  • Curtain times are at 3:00 pm and 5:30
  • Running time for each concert is about 90 minutes – no intermission

Again, I’ll send out updated details on Friday, quite likely with a cue-to-cue playbook.

Oh, and one other thing.

DO wear deodorant!

DO NOT wear perfume!

I guess that’s two things

See you soon. Exciting week ahead of us.
