Meeting Tonight in AED 211
There have been a lot of logistical questions about the upcoming choral symposium in Croatia, and thus, we decided it might be wise to have an informal meeting to provide an update on how the project is coming together.
IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY A FULL-TIME STUDENT IN CHORALE YOU NEED NOT ATTEND AS WE’LL COVER THIS MATERIAL IN A SEPARATE MEETING DURING CLASS MEETING TIME!
And while it’s great to have face-to-face conversation with real humans in the room, we will also be live on ZOOM, and the meeting will be recorded and posted on a future email blast in the coming days.
Here’s the ZOOM meeting info.
Topic: CROATIA INFO MEETING

Do you have questions you’d like us to address?
Whether you plan to attend, or if you’ll be watching remotely, tonight or otherwise, PLEASE POST YOUR QUESTIONS IN THE REPLY SECTION IN THIS POST at the bottom of the page. Again, the main purpose of this gathering is to make sure people know what’s going on.
What’s the deal with Repertoire and Sheet Music?
While I’m still tweaking a bit, here’s the rep list for the summer symposium:

All files will be available to download as pdf files, though we are well aware that many people will want good old-fashioned hard copies. We have budgeted for the purchase of sheet music (as well as licensing for electronic copies) but we have not budgeted for shipping and handling of hard copies. The means people will be able to choose from one of the following options in the coming weeks:
- Download files to use on electronic reader
- Download files to print at home
- Arrange to pick up hard copies in early June at UD
- Arrange to have hard copies sent to you by US Mail ($20 fee!)
- Have music waiting for you upon arrival in Croatia ($20 fee!)
The process of bundling up music and sending it is quite onerous, nor are we crazy about boxing up loads of sheet music to check as extra baggage to Croatia, so if you can manage to make one of the first three options work, we hope you will go with that.
Details to follow.
Adriatic Cruise

We’ve also booked at boat for Thursday afternoon to cruise around the Rovinj coastline while enjoying local wine and cheese. We think this will be a 3-hour excursion, and the cost will be around $50 pp, limited to about 50 passengers. You’ll also have an opportunity to opt into that (first come-first serve) in the coming weeks.
Pre-departure Registration
In order to be fully compliant with UD policies for study abroad programs ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL NEED TO COMPLETE A REGISTRATION PROCESS ONLINE. We are currently working with the Global Studies office to streamline this process, but there will essentially be two scenarios:
- You are currently a full-time student, staff, or faculty member at UD possessing a UD email address, which will direct you to one set of forms that will ultimately provide your travel insurance through the University as well, while enrolling you in the Crisis24 travel system for advisories, et al.
- You do NOT have a direct affiliation with the University. But you will still need to complete the registration process which will link you into the Crisis24 advisory system, but will NOT provide you with travel, medical, or liability insurance. For people in this situation, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND you purchase travel insurance through a third-party provider just to make sure you’re fully covered should issues arise. Such policies are typically around $30, but well worth the peace of mind. (We’ll talk more about that tonight.)
That’s the headline news for today.
I hope you’re excited about the repertoire. There are over 100 people signed up to sing in this choir, (including several students from my high school teaching days in California!) and it looks like we’ll have a collaboration with a local choir as well. And you will simply adore singing in this beautiful church.
Please watch for updates here and in the WhatsApp Group. There are forms and details that will require your immediate attention to make sure everything comes off without a hitch!

See many of you tonight.

this rep list is so fire
The repertoire looks great! I’m looking forward to this.
Thanks for all of the information. Here are my additional questions:
If we’re traveling to Zagreb Airport on our own, where and when do we meet the group bus to Rovinj?
What is the concert attire?
Should we bring a folder?
What is the date and time of the concert?
What is the date and time of the group dinner?
What is the daily rehearsal schedule?
Is WhatsApp the only planned medium for electronic communication? Will there also be email or regular text messaging?
The invoice listed a fee for a tour guide in Rovinj. Is there a tour in the schedule? When?
I have a UD email address through OLLI. As I am not a full time student I assume that will not be helpful infilling out the required forms, etc.
How do we make sure our phones will work in Europe?
