A Most Amazing Semester in Schola: And a few gentle reminders!

Hello wonderful singers,

Several items to mention here, but let’s lead out with a kind note from one of our new basses first…

This was my first semester of singing with Schola. I wanted to say that I deeply appreciated the opportunity to participate with such a wonderful community of singers and musicians.
One thing that I consistently observed during our rehearsals and performances, was an abiding sense of joy that I saw on your faces and heard with my ears.
With thanks and a grateful heart, I wish you and your families blessings this Holiday Season and best wishes for the New Year ahead. - Andy

That seems to be the sentiment of many singers and audience goers alike – and certainly is reflective of my own experience last Friday night! I was especially pleased with the collaboration with Concert Choir and thought the collective attention to detail in the Lavoy was simply stunning. I’m eager to finish programing for the spring so we can keep building on that momentum.

On that note, please be reminded that there is NO REHEARSAL TONIGHT. We will reconvene at the beginning of the spring semester, most likely on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 6th. (Watch your email) That will likely be a y’all come reading session so potentially newbies can come take a test-drive before committing to the semester.

CONCERT DATE FOR SPRING

Unlike the craziness of this semester, we only have one concert in the spring – Saturday, April 13 at 8:00 pm in Loudis Hall. Please mark your calendars.

TURNING IN YOUR SHEET MUSIC

If you forgot to turn in your sheet music, you can do so in one of two ways.

  • If you know you’ll be in Schola in the spring, simply bring it to the first rehearsal
  • If you’re not sure whether you’ll be back in the spring, please drop it by the Main Office in Amy E Dupont with my name on it.

HAVE YOU PAID ALL YOUR FEES?

If you haven’t, or you’re not sure, please reach out to Amy (amyander@udel.edu) and she’ll help you sort things out.

I wish you all a joyous holiday season. Thanks again for your commitment to choral artistry and the community that is Schola Cantorum.
